Change History (6)

comment:1 Changed 13 years ago by Festor

  • Milestone changed from None Set to 1.30
  • Version 1.22 deleted

comment:2 Changed 13 years ago by charles

  • Milestone changed from 1.30 to None Set
  • Version set to 1.22

Why should the minimize button's behavior be overloaded like this:

Festor: don't set milestones unless you're planning on writing the code yourself.

Sorry if the last comment was unclear, not sure where that ':' on the first line came from. It should have read:

smmalis, Festor: Why should the minimize button's behavior be overloaded like this? I don't know of any other application that behaves that way.

I have seen many programs that do this. I believe eMule does it (not aMule). They have options in their preferences for what to do upon pressing exit, minimize, etc. It could be its own tab in prefs maybe?

  • Resolution set to invalid
  • Status changed from new to closed

Are there any gtk+ programs that do this?

Changing the meaning of a universally-used button is probably a bad idea. It seems to go against this section of the HIG that says minimized windows should continue to appear on the desktop wnidow list.

I have not seen any gtk apps that do it, and I understand not wanting to violate the HIG.
