Description

Most of the time maybe not that important but sometimes it can be helpful to get an estimate when a file of a torrent is done.

  • Resolution set to wontfix
  • Status changed from new to closed

This is overkill, but regardless, the nature of bittorrent (getting pieces of the torrent in no particular order) would make any eta inaccurate and meaningless.

Inaccurate certainly... but meaningless? this comment is overkill :-)

Many torrent clients do this, even the original at some point. The point it not to give a mathematically accurate figure. It's called an "estimate" for a reason.

I often do back on the envelope calculations with transmission to estimate when, and surprisingly my estimates are quite accurate.

I realise that there may not be the developer time or will to do this, I understand that. I also understand that the unwillingness of a developer to do a feature in an open source project does not necessarily mean closing down the feature request.

... to estimate when a torrent is finished downloading

Err sorry...I didn't get the ticket at first and I am using an ancient version of transmission (1.06).

Please dismiss my previous comments.

Note: See TracTickets for help on using tickets.
