#1190 closed Bug (fixed)

Regression: Transmission 1.32 cannot correctly encode folder names in settings.json

Reported by: marcabru Owned by: charles
Priority: High Milestone: 1.33
Component: Transmission Version: 1.32
Severity: Normal Keywords:

Description

MY SYSTEM

Ubuntu 8.04, hungarian locale (in order to get an English error message, I've set LANG=en_US) Transmission 1.32, getdeb package

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

1) Start transmission

2) Edit-->Preferences

3) Set destination folder to "/home/myusername/Letöltések"

4) Exit transmission

5) Start transmission

6) Edit-->Preferences

EXPECTED RESULT

I see under destination folder the name "Letöltések"

INSTEAD I GOT this error message

"The folder contents could not b displayed Error stating file '/home/myusername/Let###ffc3###ffb6lt###ffc3###ffa9sek': No such file or directory"

Where the string above is the incorrectly encoded version of "/home/myusername/Letöltések"

I've looked into /home/myusername/.config/transmission/settings.json, and a saw, that all the folder names with accents are encoded in a weird way:

...
/home/myusername/Let￿ffef￿ffbf￿ffbfffc3￿ffef￿ffbf￿ffbfffb6lt￿ffef￿ffbf￿ffbfffc3￿ffef￿ffbf￿ffbfffa9sek",

...
