#1410 closed Bug (fixed)

Possible time remaining calculation bug

Reported by: dp86 Owned by: livings124
Priority: Normal Milestone: 1.40
Component: Mac Client Version: 1.34
Severity: Normal Keywords: time remaining calculation

When seeding a torrent, the time remaining status shows how long it will take to seed the whole torrent and not the time needed to seed what has actually been downloaded.

This is more apparent when you have partially downloaded a torrent.

For example; let's say you downloaded 10MB from a torrent that was 1GB altogether. Then later completed the files on another computer. Back on the original computer you seed the files you have completed - You replace the partially downloaded files with the complete ones; perform 'Verify local data' from transmission menu resulting in '100% completed'. Now when seeding (at around 40kB/s), the time to reach a 1.00 ratio takes a matter of minutes having downloaded just 10MB. All the while, Transmission states time remaining in the region of days.

I hope this makes sense.

Only the mac client says how long it takes to get the seed ratio up to some %

  • Resolution set to fixed
  • Status changed from new to closed

[7037] should calculate the amount needed to upload better by better matching how libT calculates the ratio.
