#2000 closed Bug (wontfix)

Transmission responsible for stock market losses

Reported by: Lacrocivious Owned by:
Priority: Normal Milestone: None Set
Component: Transmission Version: 1.52
Severity: Normal Keywords: download rate stock market asia

When Transmission is running in daemon mode, I have noticed that torrent download speeds *and* the peers to which I am connected have an observable effect upon the stock market. When my download rate goes up, the market goes down. When my download rate drops to nearly zero, the market goes up. This is easily verifiable by watching TV, which has a number of channels with stock market data available.

Also I have noted that the more Asian IPs are connected in the peers tab, the worse the stock market dives when my download speeds rise. Since this problem has obvious National Security implications, I know that the developers will wish to address this almost certainly unintended side effect of Transmission performance forthwith.

Could you test this with the nightly builds and see if the problem persists?
