iphone web client - swipe to reach inspector

Description

i just tested the iphone web client and its really really cool, however i was thinking a better way to access the 'inspector' page may be to swipe across rather than double tap a torrent. Given double tap zooms for virtually everything else on iphone, swipe seems more natural to me. I have no idea if this is even feasible, however the way i imagine it would work is that a swipe to the left would take you to the inspector regardless of whether a torrent was selected. If one was you would see info, if one wasn't it would just be blanks.

As far as I'm aware, there is no easy way to detect a swipe. I think the ideal way to access the inspector would be through a button, but I have not yet find a good way to make an inspector button fit anywhere.

About 2 weeks after you wrote that an easy to use jQuery plugin to detect swipe on iPhone has been published: http://plugins.jquery.com/project/swipe :)

But I'm think that proposed above use of swipe is not the proper way to implement entering inspector. A swipe like this is usually used to enter 'delete element' mode (for example in bookmarks in Safari).

I would rather see a button to enter inspector on the right edge of each torrent box and an animation to enter the inspector 'to the right' and accordingly a button on the left on the inspector to leave this view and the opposite animation. That's what you also meant, right? But I agree that it's difficult to fit this button there..

Maybe someone who also cares but with better design and graphics skills than me could just try to draw it and post it here for you to implement? Would you implement it then?

  • Keywords patch-needed added
  • Version changed from 1.72+ to 1.72

This probably isn't going to be implemented unless someone adds a patch for it. To the extent that the web client is maintained at all, most of the people submitting patches aren't using iPhones.
