#2354 closed Bug (fixed)

"unknown error occurred (1)" when creating torrent

Reported by: charles Owned by: livings124
Priority: Normal Milestone: 1.75
Component: Mac Client Version: 1.73
Severity: Normal Keywords:

Description (last modified by charles)

This is being experienced by quite a few people in the forums:

Error "1" is the URL error, meaning the user submitted an invalid URL.

The error message here should say that the URL is invalid, not that it's an unknown error.

crude mockup to give the basic idea. I can't compile the mac client here, so this snippet might not even compile.
CreatorWindowController.m (20.0 KB) - added by nate 12 years ago.
This compiles.

This does not compile in [9074]

This is a bit closer:

else if (fInfo->result == TR_MAKEMETA_IO_URL) //this line receives error Use of undeclared identifier TR_MAKEMETA_IO_URL
[alert setInformativeText: [NSString stringWithFormat: NSLocalizedString(@"Invalid URL",
						"Create torrent -> failed -> warning"), fInfo->errfile, strerror(fInfo->my_errno)]];

This compiles.

  • Milestone changed from None Set to 1.75
  • Resolution set to fixed
  • Status changed from new to closed

I think I have fixed the issue, completely unrelated to the patch above. This will force the tracker table to update before creation, so that any changes that have not been confirmed are.

trunk: r9100 and 1.7x: r9101

"Yes this problem still exists. What the hell is going on? I've tried separate folders, separate websites, and still get the error #1 message."

There is no evidence that that user was using the right version. Closing until there's more information.
