What would be the use case of this?

comment:3 Changed 13 years ago by jch

The two of you should get married ;-)

The main application is disabling trackers when they're firewalled away or too slow. For example, most BitTorrent? trackers are globally firewalled on the French academic network, with no ICMP error indication, which causes connections to trackers to hang until a timeout.

This will become worse when we have proper IPv6 support.

(Deleted off-topic rant about firewall administrators needing to be hit on the head with the Internet Protocol Handbook until they start generating proper ICMP unreachables.)

Do you think anyone will actually use this? If anything, they should just delete the trackers.

I have to agree, this sounds pretty marginal...

I would.

If anything, they should just delete the trackers.

That's what I'm doing right now. It's a pain.

What percentage of users would use this? It doesn't seem to make sense to bloat the interface with. It hasn't been requested even once before.

  • Resolution set to wontfix
  • Status changed from new to closed

It doesn't seem to make sense to bloat the interface with.

Whoever spoke of bloating the interface? It's clearly the sort of specialised tweak that only goes into settings.json.

Anyway, since this is not important enough to warrant this discussion, I'm marking this bug as « suppressed by the ruling elite ».
