#2629 closed Enhancement (fixed)

Associate Transmission with magnet links

Reported by: guilherme Owned by: charles
Priority: Low Milestone: 1.80
Component: Transmission Version: 1.76
Severity: Trivial Keywords:

Maybe Transmission could have an option/button to associate itself with magnet links system-wide, so that all a user has to do is click the link and it would add itself...

Potential instructions on how to do it on Macs:

Of course, I don't know if those can actually work as I can't reeaaaly code...

It seems like Deluge is also attempting to implement this on Gnome, so it's possible for other Unix-like systems as well - I just have no clue on how =)

What do you think, guys? Good, bad, neutral? =)

Got a link for the Deluge thread where they outline how they're doing this in Deluge?

charles * r9634 /trunk/ ( gtk/ gtk/main.c): (trunk gtk) #2629 "associate transmission with magnet links" -- implemented for GTK+ client on GNOME desktops with GConf2

livings124: I'm done with this ticket now. If there's a mechanism for this on OS X and you want to do it, feel free to close this ticket when you're done. Otherwise, please reassign this to the GTK+ component and close as fixed...

  • Resolution set to fixed
  • Status changed from assigned to closed

Mac client: r9636

The Mac client auto-registers for magnet links, and has a button in prefs to make it the default.
