More information? It works fine for me. http://forum.transmissionbt.com/viewtopic.php?t=3274

When you set the milestone, you're either give a patch or giving us marching orders.

I am not having this problem. Are you sure the tracker allows the newest Transmission? Are you sure you're not killing your router because of such high speeds? Work your way through http://trac.transmissionbt.com/wiki/SlowSpeeds

Ignore the first part, that was originally for a different ticket.

Replying to bude1960:

Hi

Same problem here, after 1.80 and 1.82 transmission seems not open port on my box, but 1.76 works fine and i not changing anything on my box.

I have about 130 active torrents, 7 downloading, the rest seeding in the background. I have bandwidth limits to choke the upload speed to 20 during the day. With and without the limits enabled I'm getting 0 download and 0 upload speeds with 1.82. I am seeing periodic bursts of activity for 1-5 seconds every couple of minutes but for the most part, it is not downloading anyway. If I trash 1.82 and pull 1.76 out of the trash and restart it, the downloading and uploading works again as normal. What information can I provide to you to troubleshoot?

I am using OpenBSD -current but I'm experiencing the same issue since upgrading from 1.76 / 1.77 to 1.80 / 1.82. Using 1.7x Transmission works fine. Using 1.8x results in the inability to download any torrents at all.

  • Component changed from Transmission to libtransmission
  • Milestone changed from None Set to 1.83
  • Owner set to charles
  • Priority changed from Normal to High
  • Severity changed from Normal to Major
  • Status changed from new to assigned

I think this is fixed now in trunk for 1.83 by r10015

I'm using the latest snapshot and I still cannot download anything.

I am also still seeing this problem with 10018

Not only downloads but uploads as well. Will see some activity for a few minutes, then all ul/dl drops to zero (by comparison my current list results in sustained 500-750 kBps DL, pegged at limit of 60kBps UL with 1.76)

If you look at the torrents and rollover peers, they will say they are connected, interested and unchoked, but their rate stays at 0.

OS X 10.5.7, using upnp

I've switched back and forth between 1.76, 1.82, and 10018 several times to confirm. 1.76 always working, other builds always stop ul/dl after a few seconds, and remain at zero with occasional brief bursts of activity.

Left it running for an hour each with 1.82 & with 10018, and total UL/DL in the statistics was around 20 MB each.

goadtoad: could you try >= r10020 and let me know how that goes? We've already had one report of success with it...

(pedantic note: r10019 is actually the interesting commit here; r10020 is for a different ticket...)

I have problems too. Ubuntu Intrepid i386 kernel 2.6.27-7-generic, compiled from tarball. I'm using svn10029 and I still cannot download anything. 1.76 works like a charm.

Update: Same config (Ubuntu Intrepid i386 kernel 2.6.27-7-generic, gtk-disable)

I tried 1.80 and 1.81. These releases works. So, a new bug was introduced in 1.82x series

  • Resolution set to fixed
  • Status changed from reopened to closed
  • Summary changed from Since 1.80 update downloads failing to in 1.80 through 1.82, both downloads & uploads stop for awhile at regular intervals

I think part of the problem here is that this ticket's summary is vague. The OP's problem was that data transfers would go, then stop, then go again, then stop again, at regular intervals. This same behavior was reported many times in irc and in the forums.

If we interpret the summary as "there exists someone whose downloads don't work in 1.82" then ticket book-keeping becomes impossible. Also scontin claims the issue he's seeing was introduced in 1.82, but that's clearly not the case for the problem reported by the OP.

To keep separate issues in separate tickets, I'm going to rename the summary in this ticket and re-mark it as closed.

brad0 and scontin, please check to make sure your tracker(s) have whitelisted the version of Transmission that you're trying to use. Also please refer to http://trac.transmissionbt.com/wiki/SlowSpeeds and, if you don't find the issue, please report the details requested in that wiki page either via irc or in a new, separate trac ticket. Thank you!
