#2810 closed Enhancement (wontfix)

Display total number of connections

Reported by: gn0s1s Owned by: livings124
Priority: Normal Milestone: None Set
Component: Transmission Version: 1.82
Severity: Normal Keywords: connections, peers, UI

It would be nice to be able to see how close you are actually coming to the connection limit you specified. I know you can go through all the torrents and add up the number of connections, but it would be really handy to have to total number at the bottom of the Transmission window. Perhaps next to the total number of torrents, something like:

23 of 23 transfers - 546/600 peers

(Or some nicer way of showing peers and limit together).

That way you know whether your torrents are maxing out your peer limit. It will also provide valuable debugging information, because sometimes users set their peer setting way too high, have trouble maxing out their pipes, and then think something is wrong with the software because it "eats up all my bandwidth". Showing them what's happening in terms of connection will make it easier to get them to report it to the devs when they ask. :-)

  • Component changed from Mac Client to Transmission

comment:2 Changed 12 years ago by livings124

  • Resolution set to wontfix
  • Status changed from new to closed

Although these stats are nice, they are a bit overkill. That information isn't valuable enough for the main window.

Sure, perhaps not valuable enough for the main window...but does that mean they can't be displayed anywhere? (Which is basically what closing the ticket means...)
