And how does a nightly work (from the download page)?

comment:2 Changed 12 years ago by livings124

  • Component changed from Mac Client to Transmission

The same problem. Maybe this is unrelated, but shutting down also takes about a minute.

I'm using Snow Leopard.

Which build version is taking a long time to start. Taking a minute to quit is normal - it has to contact trackers. When you say startup time, do you refer to the window appearing, or actually downloading, etc?

comment:5 Changed 12 years ago by munikho

I'm now using 1.82+ (10034)

I refer to the window appearing. I just see the icon bouncing but nothing else.

How many transfers do you have loaded currently?

Does OS X generate a freeze report during this time?

comment:8 Changed 12 years ago by munikho

I had two transfers running, but tested also without any transfers and get the same result.

Sorry, but i don't know how to check if a freeze report has been generated.

hmm

next test: try disabling port forwarding in the preferences dialog, exit, and restart. does startup still take a long time even with port forwarding turned off?

comment:10 Changed 12 years ago by munikho

Disabled port forwarding, but there was no change.

comment:11 Changed 12 years ago by charles

huh. if you've got port forwarding turned off and no transfers loaded, I don't know what could be causing this. livings do you have any ideas on how to track this down?

comment:12 Changed 12 years ago by munikho

Ok, i think i found a clue.

I turned all settings off and transmission started in an instant. Now when i turn 'DHT for public torrents' on. It's stuck again on startup. And it also freezes now sometimes when i want to close it, so i have to force quit it.

What happens when you say

telnet -6 www.transmissionbt.com 80

?

comment:15 Changed 12 years ago by munikho

Not sure what you mean by that. Could you explain?

comment:16 Changed 12 years ago by livings124

Open Terminal.app and enter that command. What output does it give you?

comment:17 Changed 12 years ago by livings124

munikho: Have you given this a try? Any more information?
