#2929 closed Bug (fixed)

Persistent Tracker error messages in Main Window

Reported by: stdisease Owned by: charles
Priority: Low Milestone: 2.00
Component: libtransmission Version: 1.90
Severity: Minor Keywords:
Cc:

Description

When one of the trackers fails to respond or is not reachable, Transmission normally displays a line highlighted in a Bright red color indicating the nature of the error, in the main window be low the Torrent's title.

Except when I remove the offending tracker from the list, the error messages either do not clear up for the rest of the download, or clear only after some time.

Desired behavior, IMHO: Any errors displayed that relate to a given tracker should be cleared as soon as the tracker is deleted.

Also of note is that during the time that the tracker error persists in the main window the user is unable to see "Downloading from x of x peers" in the Transmission window. While it's true that that information can be found in the inspector, I can't think of a good reason to keep the error around once the tracker itself is gone from the torrent. Perhaps there should be a function (called upon tracker deletion) that resets the torrent's error message status in the main window if that error message was generated by the deleted tracker. Hope that makes sense. :)

@gn0s1s: Does r10664 solve the problem for you?

Almost solved Charles!

Upon adding a torrent, the tracker error appears very briefly (a second), and is then hidden. (Presume by the an if loop). However, if you pause, then resume the torrent, the error appears and stays.

I'm gonna grab a few more .torrents and see what happens, but this is an initial report.

Using 10669. I'll be up for an hour or two if you want to try and debug this.

Cheers, and keep up the great work!

Edit: Note, I did not delete the offending tracker from the inspector window, as I don't think you should have to. It should be a "Tracker has returned error, no problem, ignore it" attitude imo. On a side note, this error is caused at least 90% of the time for me by tracker.hexagon.cc:2710

@Sharpshot: maybe so but that's a separate question. This ticket is about clearing a tracker's error message when that tracker has been removed from the torrent's tracker list...

Fair enough! I'll open a separate ticket.
