RFC: gently handle transmission-cli's rename

Reported by: costela Owned by:
Priority: Normal Milestone: None Set
Component: CLI Version: 1.90
Severity: Minor Keywords: config cli rename

In 1.90 transmission-cli had MY_NAME changed to "transmissioncli". After that I got this bug report about it ignoring the old configs, which were obviously in another dir.

Would a patch for gently handling this be accepted?

I could simply implement a debian-only wrapper or some other workaround, but this would leave non-debian users with this minor-yet-annoying problem.

I would accept a patch for this, but be advised that transmission-cli is currently on deathwatch, so it's up to you if you want to bother.

transmission-daemon does everything transmission-cli does, and better, *except* for creating .torrent files from the command line. That will be handled by new utility in Transmission 2.0.

  • Resolution set to wontfix
  • Status changed from new to closed

This would be nice, but the combination of 1. the cli being removed soon and 2. the more time that passes the less this ticket matters, there isn't much need for this to be fixed. If someone comes with a patch, please reopen and we will gladly apply it.
