#3008 closed Bug (duplicate)

Confusing torent status in torrent list when file not found, while rechecking

Reported by: Waldorf Owned by: charles
Priority: Normal Milestone: None Set
Component: libtransmission Version: 1.91
Severity: Normal Keywords:
Cc:

Description (last modified by Waldorf)

When a file isn't found, the status string beneath the torrent, in the torrent list, says, correctly, "No data found [...]".

However, when verifying (or queued for verification), it would be less confusing if this error is removed, since it's actually checking the file right now (or will check it), and, logically, the file is found.

Update: The error does not do away, even when it finishes verifying, until it is started.

  • Component changed from Mac Client to libtransmission
  • Owner changed from livings124 to charles

The UI is showing the error string passed from libtransmission. This would have to be changed in there.

Waldorf: does this problem persist in the nightlies?

Waldorf: are you referring to the "No data found! Reconnect any disconnected drives, use \"Set Location\", or restart the torrent to re-download." error message?

I believe the "No data found [...]" one.

On the same subject, I though I reported this but probably just mentioned to livings, I ran into another issue: when there is a tracker with an error (not a 4xx or anything but like "Torrent not tracked by us") is removed, the error message stays. (until T is reopened)

I'd expected the error of one specific tracker to go away when removing that tracker.

... I'm asking if the "No data found [...]" message that you mentioned in the Description is the one that reads "No data found! Reconnect any disconnected drives, use \"Set Location\", or restart the torrent to re-download".

ha. sorry. it was late, I thought you gave me 2 options...(", or).

Anyway, let me put it in images:

I started Transmission, with 2 files on an unmounted external drive. It takes Transmission up-to 5-10 seconds to realize the files cannot be accessed. Then We'll get this error message:

So, I mount the drive. I tell Transmission to verify, and it verifies just fine. However, as you can see, the error remains. At verify, T already know the file already exist, so the error message should be cleared.

Lastly, I mount the disk and start the torrent. It starts to re-download...

When started, maybe T should look for the files at the destination before re-downloading to the incomplete folder? I'd prefer if I could simply restart the torrents and they'll resume, if possible, without re-verifying.
