Description

I noticed that transmission only has an option to inhibit hibernate: it could be useful to have also an option to inhibit suspend! Thanks

I think it could be the same option Inhibit hibernate/suspend. Someone who enables not to hibertante it's pretty sure that expects that nothing is going to halt the system.

Well yes, it could be the same option.

org.gnome.SessionManager? provides these modes of Inhibiting the desktop. You can use any number of these modes at once:

  • 1: Inhibit logging out
  • 2: Inhibit user switching
  • 4: Inhibit suspending the session or computer
  • 8: Inhibit the session being marked as idle

Currently Transmission uses "4", and this feature is disabled in Transmission by default. It can be enabled via Edit > Preferences > Desktop.

8 would inhibit the screensaver too. 4 is the correct value for Transmission.

I'm sorry but I can't understand. Why is this invalid? "4: Inhibit suspending the session or computer"

If I close the laptop lid the computer is suspended.

Do you have any active torrents when you suspend your computer?

I currently have 2 downloading torrents, the option "inhibit hibernations when torrents are active", and the gnome-power-manager option "when the laptop lid is closed: suspend".

I don't know if this could be just a gnome-power-manager problem, or a transmission problem.

I have g-p-m 2.30.0-0ubuntu1 and transmission 1.92-0ubuntu2.1

Unfortunately I don't have a good way to test this. If you know your way around C and want to poke into this a bit I'd appreciate it :)

Sorry I don't understand your request: in your installation, does it go to sleep when you close the laptop lid and have active torrents?

comment:10 Changed 12 years ago by charles

You're assuming that my desktop has a laptop lid.

Actually I was!
