  • Resolution set to wontfix
  • Status changed from new to closed

This is intentional, since group support is not yet in libT.

  • Cc losmuertos@… added
  • Component changed from Web Client to Mac Client
  • Resolution wontfix deleted
  • Severity changed from Major to Normal
  • Status changed from closed to reopened
  • Type changed from Bug to Enhancement
  • Version changed from 2.04 to 2.11+

I'm sorry if reopening is the wrong thing to do (I'm new to trac).

I've noticed that when adding torrents using RPC with Transmission Remote GUI, the groups are detected by the remote Transmission client. I have an OS X 2.11 client running on OS X 10.6.4. The client acts as a server for the local network. Here is an example of what I am talking about:

  • I add a torrent using Remote GUI
  • The torrent starts downloading
  • If I logon to the "server" machine and check the Transmission client, I see that the torrent has been "grouped" according to filter criteria I specified in the application preferences, which is great... However:
  • The directory I specified for that group is not respected... ie. the torrent is being downloaded to my "default" directory

The reason I am using this particular ticket is that it appears there is some code already performing detection of groups when torrents are added using RPC (like when you add a torrent using the Web interface or Remote GUI), regardless of whether groups are implemented in the libT library.

Would it be possible to enhance this code so that the directory filter is respected as well?

Maybe when the code that determines the torrent's "group" is executed, an additional step could be added that would automatically "move" the file to the directory specified in the group configuration.

This will be addressed when group support is added to Transmission.
