I don't see the need for doing this in Transmission -- there's already a cool downstream project that's filling this need. http://ugha.i2p.to/I2pTransmission

I would love to see Transmission support i2p. I'm pretty sure this "project" is defunct, expired, or abandoned. Or maybe I'm just doing it wrong

Sorry, but this is way outside the scope of Transmission. Best for a third-party client to handle this.

patg, I notice Vuze has a plugin for this. You may want to give that a try.

No one that uses i2p has reported getting i2p plugin working.

Echelon is pretty well known around i2p-his comments on it are: "I/we consider vuze/azureus in I2P as borked and not working. It needs a new working plugin with a nice guide to it. this new .b32.i2p IDs and IDs >516bit are just one topic. IMHO azureus tracker never worked fine at all - I only got azureus once run via I2P very slow and buggy." via http://zzz.i2p.to/topics/248

I understand-and I was pretty sure of this before I said anything, just wanted to add my vote. Thanks for all the great work you guys do.

Hello, I'm willing to improve the existing i2p-transmission client, sync it with the latest version of transmission and increase the code quality. Would you be interested in the patch? It would be great for those with high censorship to be able to use the de-facto standard BitTorrent? client with the I2P network. Even because the other clients available are not mature, don't work very well and lack several fundamental features. Basically the patch would consist in adding a small library which talks with the I2P router, some configuration parameters and expand the address structure to support I2P addresses (in addition to IPv4 and IPv6, which means that the structure is almost ready). I'l try to keep the patch as much uninvasive as possible. It's a very important step for the I2P network development.

I don't think we would be using this patch in Transmission itself, but Transmission's license allows you to create derived works as you please. Don't let the Transmission team's disinterest in i2p discourage you from doing what you like with the code.

Also if you have any questions about libtransmission, just drop by #transmission on freenode and ask. The developers are pretty helpful (usually ;)

It's not a matter of discouraging, it's just that I can't maintain a parallel version forever, so, even if I improve the current code, in a year or less it will be dead and unmaintained, so my work would be almost useless. I think I'll try to make it JustWork? and leave it there, if you don't show interest in the patch.

Can I ask why you don't think it's a good idea to include it in the official transmission?

Jutor, I'm very interested in this addition of i2p. Kudos if you can make it work. Also, I'm wondering why you can't maintain it? Or did I understand you wrong? Anyway here's a vote from me to get i2p supported into transmission. It would be great.

Wishing this was supported. And note http://ugha.i2p.to/I2pTransmission is dead.

I don't think devs' position changed since the last time. Read the comments above.

FYI Not sure if it's the same site, but here it is: http://ugha.i2p.re/I2pTransmission.
