Average Speeds when download complete

If I understand this request right, it's what I talked about in comments 8, 12 and 14 of the ticket #1408. So I'm also very interested in this feature.

Actually I`m just interested in having the download/upload speeds that were recorded(?) on my completed torrent. Your comments in #1408 suggested changing the way the ETA was calculated, if I read and understood correctly.

  • Milestone changed from 2.11 to None Set

You must not set milestones if you have not talked about doing it with the devs or you are not going to implement it yourself.

This seems like information overload to me. What genuine benefit would this provide over such stats such as start time, end time, total running time, etc.?

I don't see the use case for this feature. Could someone explain?

Yes, however all this information is related: average download speed vs total download time vs ETA. One can be determined from the other by using the downloaded/remaining size.

If you look at the attached files, which represent uTorrent's interface, granted I forgot to mark / underline the feature I wanted, you can see that for the selected torrent in the list, the details pane shows the average download and upload speed for that torrent along with the current download and upload speed if the torrent has any activity (either downloading or uploading). Use case here is I would know at approximately what speeds did that torrent download or upload (granted on average). Sorry about the milestone, didn't know proper, and thanks for the correction.

Yes I saw the screenshot. :)

I don't think I asked the question correctly, so let me try again: why is it interesting to know the average upload or download speed for a torrent?

Well, it would be useful for me, so that I can compare my two ISP speeds. Especially when my bandwidth differs from moment to moment (early morning - network load minimal - higher bandwidth etc. - mid day moderate load - evenings etc.). Also I regularly could compare said speeds with my "peers" while we download the same torrent.

  • Resolution set to wontfix
  • Status changed from new to closed

I'm sorry, but we're going to have to reject this. The feature is something only a handful of users would want/use. It seems like the only reason you want it is because of your unique ISP situation.

count the active time

comment:12 Changed 11 years ago by Elbandi

  • Resolution wontfix deleted
  • Status changed from closed to reopened

Added a little patch to count the sum activity time for a torrent (it simply sum the timediff between startdate and "now" when stopping a torrent)

Exporting this variable through rpc, remote clients can calculate the average speeds. and users can use that info what they want (whatever is that :D)

elbandi, if you split activityTime into two fields, you'll have #1408 implemented...
