#3652 new Enhancement

Allow editing tracker list in the webinterface

Reported by: elsdoerfer Owned by: kjg

Description

This has previously been brought up as part of #2581, which is a prerequisite. Now that the list of trackers can be modified via the RPC, it would be nice if the web interface would implement the feature - I would prefer to use the same UI approach as the GTK client, that is, a free form edit field.

I've just spent some time looking at the code of the interface to see how complex adding this would be, and had to face the reality that doing it right is more work than I expected (i.e. support for multiple torrent selection etc).

So for now, I'm logging this simply as a feature request, in the hope that at some point, someone might be motivated to pick it up.

I join this request.

Started using WebUI recently, and I was really surprise when I've noticed that it can't edit the tracker list. In my opinion this is a crucial point to all those who use transmission to get "not-so-mainstream" files.

Thanks a lot.

I have noticed the web-client is not getting the attention it needs. Very little work has been done on it in these last years. I have implemented basic tracker management in Shift in the summer of 2013.

"I have noticed the web-client is not getting the attention it needs."

Sad, but true. So who will take up the challenge to continue the development of Transmission's Web Interface, instead of promoting their own less-than-user-friendly pet project?

Replying to x190:

Again, not adding something useful to the discussion. Read and contribute to So many alternative Web UI options, so little unity and point out in Shift, a new web UI what exactly is so less-than-user-friendly about Shift. I built it initially with a single user in mind ... me! The ONLY way for me to directly work on the main Web interface is for the Transmission team to adopt Shift as the main Web interface.

Please don't do advertising here. This ticket is about specific issue in specific UI.

If you feel like some other UI has a chance of replacing Clutch, re-open #3176 (with proper argumentation).

And I would like to point out that there is something very general about this specific issue (and the ticket you referred me to): It was filed ages ago.

This is an important feature and should not be forgotten:

There should be a way to edit the tracker list on added torrents in order to add more trackers. Now the only way is to delete the incomplete torrent and then add it again with the new trackers in the magnet link (Web client on Tomato Firmware).

The editor should be easy to use it: Ex: just add: "udp://tracker.opentrackr.org:1337". I mean in order to avoid the magnet format: &tr=udp%3A%2F%2Ftracker.opentrackr.org%3A1337.

Note: See TracTickets for help on using tickets.
