#3750 new Enhancement

Add peer in Peers List or Fixed peer list

Reported by: tman Owned by:

Description

I'm running a cluster of seed servers, usually with the same downloads on all of them. Servers are connected to internet (low speed) but also to a high speed local area network and could transfer data to each other very fast. So data that is already got on one server could be passed to the others instantly, no need to download the same data n times on each server. I need a new feature in transmission: add peer to the peer list, e.g. the local IP/port of other servers. Or a better approach: a list of local peers that should be always added to every download started. So I could create this list on each server with the local IP's/ports of the others. (p.s. It's not helpful to find these servers each other through the tracker because first it will go low speed and second because of peer limit they not always added) Thanks!

Have you enabled Local Peer Discovery?

Can't find such setting. Checked both webui and setttings.json. What is exactly the parameter name?

Btw...I don't need discovery feature anyway because I know exactly which peers I want to add. Secondly...it would be nice to add a peer manually, e.g. if it's outside but not found through tracker. Maybe I should split this ticket:

  1. Fixed peer list
  2. Add peer manually

There's not a hook for it in the Web gui, but the settings.json field is "lpd-enabled"

This feature is still needed for private torrents. Local Peer Discovery only works with public torrents.

I need it for a seedbox network for a private tracker

I have a similar case where I have two internet connections with a LAN between them. If I can download from both connections and then peer them then I am able to double the incoming bandwidth.

The ability to manually add peers or a peer list.

Command Line Options

Command line options such as: --add-peer=10.0.0.22:4657 --add-peer=10.0.0.22:5676 and --add-peer-list=./peer-list.txt

peer-list.txt in the form of ipaddress:port(\r)\n would be good.

I've been also unable to find the local peer discovery (in either settings).
