#3839 closed Bug (worksforme)

Auto seed ratio is being calculated based on the current sessions download and not the total torrent size

Description

In 2.13, if you have it set to automatically seed to a certain ratio, that ratio will be based on what was downloaded during the current app session and not the total torrent size. For example:

  1. Download a torrent for a 1 GB disk image
  2. Download 900 MB of the image
  3. Quit
  4. Relaunch
  5. Download the remaining 100 MB
  6. Seeding will only go for 150 MB since you only downloaded 100 MB in this session

This makes me a bad torrent citizen :(

Are you sure the file wasn't removed and rea-dded between launch, or anything along those lines?

I don't think so. I'm fairly certain I just quit and relaunched the client later on. I see what you're saying though. But don't you think it should still use the entire torrent size to determine the seed ratio, even in that case?

In that case I do not agree - a ratio by definition is amount downloaded vs amount uploaded. It only falls back to size on disk if download amount is zero.

  • Resolution set to worksforme
  • Status changed from new to closed

I have verified that in the normal relaunch situation, the existing upload and download amounts are used. The fallback situation I described is also used when appropriate. With the information available, there's not much we can do. Please reopen if you can provide more information.
