#3863 closed Enhancement (fixed)

Accept info hash in "Add url..." dialog

Reported by: cantabile Owned by: charles
Priority: Normal Milestone: 2.20
Component: Qt Client Version: 2.13
Severity: Normal Keywords: magnet uri btih info hash

Description

Hi,

Currently transmission (qt) doesn't accept a simple btih in the "add url..." dialog. Often enough I copy the info hash of a torrent and I need to prepend 'magnet:?xt=urn:btih:' to make it work.

It would be nice if transmission did that for me ;)

I've attached a patch which implements this feature in the qt client.

The fine print: I don't know much this info hash thing, except what I can see in transmission and various bittorrent-related sites: it seems to be a 40-digit hexadecimal number. I don't know for sure if that's always the case.

This is a great idea and I appreciate the patch!

But, if we add this to the add-data class rather in that dialog handler, we can also handle info-hash keys from other places too. Give r11623 a spin and see if that works alright for you.

Version 2.13 with the patch from r11623 works for me.
