#4159 closed Bug (invalid)

transmissioncli - Create a torrent - "Failed opening torrent file"

Reported by: Golffies Owned by:
Priority: Normal Milestone: None Set
Component: Transmission Version: 2.04
Severity: Blocker Keywords:
Cc:

Description

Transmission 2.04 (11151) running on LinHES 6.03.00 (Archlinux based) - available in stable repositories (http://knoppmyth.net/repo/i686/extra) --

Creating a new torrent file with transmissioncli fails:

Transmission 2.04 (11151) - http://www.transmissionbt.com/
[23:14:11.115] Transmission 2.04 (11151) started
[23:14:11.118] RPC Server: Adding address to whitelist: 127.0.0.1
[23:14:11.119] DHT: Generating new id
Failed opening torrent file `broadcast.torrent'
[23:14:11.218] DHT: Not saving nodes, DHT not ready
[23:14:11.219] Port Forwarding: Stopped

The trouble can easily be reproduced, whatever the local directory is, whatever the file or directory to be included in the torrent are (it is not related to access rights or files naming), whatever the announce URL is, whatever the torrent given name is, having transmissiond running at the same time or not, etc.

$ touch broadcast.torrent

Creating first an empty file does not help.

Does this occur with 2.22 or a current nightly?

  • Resolution set to invalid
  • Status changed from new to closed

transmissioncli doesn't create torrents anymore post-2.1x ... that's what transmission-create is for.

Golffies, please reopen this ticket if the problem persists in transmission-create. Thanks!
