not likely that i will, sorry if i gave the impression that i would, i know you took the time to show me where the bug was even and i appreciate it, but i do not use the desktop proxy configuration or support. though, i did say i would own the original stuff returning completely as if that was something that could have been bargained at the time :]
i'm not averse to doing maintenance tasks though, or helping people like i was on the irc channel :] that was actually something of my long term plan since i pissed so many people off.
again, sorry if i gave that impression and sorry for the rest.

- Keywords patch-needed added
- Resolution set to wontfix
- Status changed from new to closed
Marking as wontfix since I don't even have access to a socks5 proxy to test this and because the OP has decided not to look into this after all.
If anyone reading this wants to fix this issue, please attach a patch that fixes the socks5 proxy support via the GNOME desktop proxy settings, and reopen the ticket.

ssh -D can do socks4 and socks5, it's also what i used the old proxy support for, coincidentally
steubens, are you still planning on submitting a patch for this?
