#4354 closed Bug (invalid)

Download cannot be restarted upon removal of local data

Description

If partly downloaded local data have been removed all of a sudden, torrent stops showing off an error like "No local data found..." This is exactly what to be expected in such a situation. However, later on the download cannot be restarted/resumed manually. What is even worse, an attempt to verify local data fails immediately with the same "No local data..." error. The only way to restart the torrent is to remove it from the list and to add it again. Another way is to restore at least one piece of local data then run verification.

First observed in Transmission GTK 2.21+, this nuisance might affect users who download multiple-file torrents piece-by-piece.

  • Resolution set to invalid
  • Status changed from new to closed
  • Version changed from 2.21+ to 2.21

This is intentional. It's *very* common for users to accidentally redownload content due to an unplugged external drive, even if they resumed the torrent manually.

I agree that having to remove + re-add the torrent is a nuisance, but making it difficult to do by accident was intentional.
