#460 closed Bug (wontfix)

Fails to remember stop at seeding settings

Reported by: tiennou Owned by: somebody
Priority: Normal Milestone: None Set
Component: Mac Client Version: 0.95
Severity: Normal Keywords:

I'm seeing issues with torrents tweaking their Stop Seeding setting. My global Stop Seeding ration is 2.0, and I have 5 torrents that are "finished" due to this setting. Now each time I start T, and click "Resume All" (I do a "Stop All" each time I quit), those that were set as finished, with a ratio of 2.0 START SEEDING AGAIN ! Looking in the Inspector, I see their "Stop seeding" is set to "Seed forever" (which should be renamed to "Never" BTW). Now some wierd things :

  • If I force-start one of the 2.0 torrents, it switches to Seed Forever, but don't start.
  • After a "Stop All"-"Quit"-"Relaunch"-"Resume All", all the 2.0 torrents are set to "Seed Forever", but aren't started.

I just finished seeding another, and it also moved from "Global Setting" to "Seed Forever" when it finished.

Here's what's happening:

It's set to stop at a ratio. Start all starts all (for obvious reasons) and they stop at that ratio. When they reach a stop ratio they change to seed forever because if they stay at the other setting you won't be able to restart it ever.

I don't see why it's currently doing this. It makes the whole "Stop seeding at Ratio" stuff useless, since a mere "Start All" will put all torrents, even completed ones to start the next time the button is clicked. (And as noted in my comment above, newly finished torrents don't even care about this rule, since they're automatically promoted to "Seed forever").

If a user wants to force a torrent to seed more, he can Force-start this one, and so the torrent will switch to "Seed Forever" (or he could do this manually.

If you start all, it is assumed you want to start all, not "start the ones that match this or that condition". Once the torrent is autostopped it becomes seed forever so that it can be restarted without meddling in the options. This has been the behavior since 0.60 without a single comment by people using the feature.
