#4730 closed Bug (wontfix)

enhancement: do not create de-selected folders when downloading

Reported by: michaeljt Owned by:
Priority: Normal Milestone: None Set
Component: Transmission Version: 2.42
Severity: Trivial Keywords:

When I download a torrent which consists of a directory containing files, I often only wish to download one or two of the files without the directory itself. It seems intuitive to me that if I deselect the directory and re-select the individual files which I want that those files would be created directly in the download directory, rather than as subdirectories of the directory they were in inside the torrent.

(My most recent) usage case:

The torrent "mageia-dvd-1-i586" contains the files "mageia-dvd-1-i586/", "mageia-dvd-1-i586/mageia-dvd-1-i586.iso", "mageia-dvd-1-i586/mageia-dvd-1-i586.md5", etc. When I deselect the first (the folder), select the second and the third and download to "/home/michael/DVDs", I would expect the files "/home/michael/DVDs/mageia-dvd-1-i586.iso" and "/home/michael/DVDs/mageia-dvd-1-i586.md5" to be created, not "/home/michael/DVDs/mageia-dvd-1-i586/mageia-dvd-1-i586.iso" and "/home/michael/DVDs/mageia-dvd-1-i586/mageia-dvd-1-i586.md5" as actually happens.

  • Resolution set to wontfix
  • Status changed from new to closed

Unfortunately this is not feasible with the way torrents hash data. Also, the interface for this would be counter-intuitive.
