#5039 closed Enhancement (wontfix)

Faulty watch dir filter

Description

For me, the watch dir check results in a lot of false positives, mainly because a .torrent suffix does not automatically constitute a torrent file and the lack of a torrent suffix does not constitute a file not being a torrent. Depending on your method of acquiring torrents, this poses problems, eg. if your tracker issues the .torrent name as http content disposition and your downloading agent (eg. CURL) does not normally interpret those fields. It would be better if the daemon would just load and try to parse any file since this is a much better way to determine if a file is actually a torrent or not.

I think it's fair logic to only attempt to auto-open files ending in .torrent. Trying to open every file would be a bit ugly.
