Perpetual "torrent metadata needed" for magnet URL torrents

While I add a torrent via Magnet URL (TPB in this case) it keeps on showing the message "torrent metadata needed"forever. However the torrents that have been added before are successfully seeding via either torrent file or magnet URL.
I tried the same magnet URL in Deluge and uTorrent and in either case the torrents start as expected. The torrents were high-seeder count torrents.

I could not reproduce the Perpetual "torrent metadata needed" or a freeze. Transmission acquired the torrent metadata for the 87 GB torrent and began downloading correctly as long as I had my blocklist off. When I tried there was only one seeder from Germany using Deluge 1.3.6.0 Tested both your link above and the magnet link from academictorrents.com, no problem.
I confirm this bug. I am running OSX Mavericks with Transmission 2.84 (14306) and the following magnet (which works on other clients, such as uTorrent), freezes on transmission:
