I've observed the same behavior on a Mac Pro running OS X 10.8.5 with Transmission 2.82. This is a production box so I've not upgraded to the latest nightly build yet.

Crash log is attached.

wsussman, could you try with a nightly as well?

This happens to me quite often, Transmission 2.84 (14306), OS X 10.8.5. Please let me know if input from me would be helpful in tracking it down.

Can you try a nightly build from https://build.transmissionbt.com/job/trunk-mac/ and post any CR results you get?

@Robby, @wsussman, @bhaller, any news?

I vaguely recall Transmission crashed recently but I cannot find a Transmission crashlog on my harddrive.

Hi. This bug has persisted for me for several months on 2.84. I just tried the latest nightly stable build and get the same result. Transmission crashes consistently and beach balls and has to be forced quit when torrents automatically pause once reaching their seed goals.

This is a consistent, persistent bug. Reproducible.

@Curbed, Please attach a crash report. Or several, if they are different.

@ mike.dld

I've tried attaching a crash report for you but your webs server errors out when I hit attach. Is there an email or alt upload method?

Transmission seems to only crash when there's several running torrents. If there's only 1-2, it seems stable.

@Curbed, you may send it to mike@tr...bt.com and I'll attach/post relevant parts here.

It has been relatively well-behaved for me lately, and I haven't had a crash on pausing torrents in quite a while. Nowadays the main thing that bites me is (a) if I quit, it often hangs on quit, (b) if I then do a Force Quit, it will not relaunch, it just bounces in the Dock endlessly, so (c) I have to actually do a full reboot to get my system back into a state where I can launch Transmission again. It seems like there is some persistent state, like perhaps a daemon process running in the background, that doesn't get closed down properly if I force quit, and that prevents things from working properly from that point forward until a reboot. That would be very nice to see fixed; I hate having to reboot my machine. I'm not sure what sort of debugging information would be helpful here; I suppose I could get you a sample from the hang on quit, at least. I'm not sure if it is fully hung; sometimes I let it sit for several hours, and sometimes it eventually does seem to quit. Whatever it is doing when it quits takes *way* too long, though, sometimes, so when I'm not prepared to let it sit for hours, I force-quit it. If it really has to take that long when it quits, for some reason, maybe it could at least show a progress panel or something...?

So far so good for me after upgrading to El Cap. I haven't had the issue of beach-balling with lots of torrents seeding or complete yet. Although, it's only early days since I haven't been using Transmission much yet on El Cap.

Note: See TracTickets for help on using tickets.
