Do you download torrents having webseeds (looks similar to #5580 and Ubuntu's #1225326)? If yes, does removing them from the client help? Would it be possible for you to try nightly build and/or upgrade/downgrade curl and gnutls?

I wouldn't know if I am using torrents with webseeds but I can regularly replicate the issue with Arch Linux ISO available at [1].

I can certainly try nightly build and different versions of curl and gnutls. I will have to see how easily I can do those things on Kubuntu 14.04.

Thanks.

Arch Linux torrents are known to have webseeds. That particular one you mentioned has 216 of them :)

And yes, moderation is for new members.

Maybe problem is with older gnutls and curl in Ubuntu LTS. I must have downloaded ArchLinux? torrents hundred of times, not to exaggerate, using transmission-qt and never had a problem before on other distros. I will have to try the latest ones to confirm.

216 * 4 connections each is enough to cause problems on any OS. See #5923 for a patch to cut this monstrosity down to size.
