#605 closed Bug (wontfix)

Status bar in TR 1.0

Reported by: infernux Owned by: charles
Priority: Normal Milestone: None Set
Component: GTK+ Client Version: 1.00
Severity: Normal Keywords:

Description

In the latest transmission, there are 3 "bars" the user can enable: toolbar, status bar and filter bar. In addition to that, there's another bar at the bottom which cannot be hidden and which only seems to show the amount of selected torrents.

IMHO the bottom bar is a "status bar" and should also include the information of the other status bar. I think merging the two would be very possible. Also, status bars are commonly at the bottom, having one at the top is kind of strange. Lastly, if the user chooses to activate all bars, that looks a bit bad. having two bars at the top (toolbar and filter bar) and one merged status bar at the bottom would look cleaner and take less screen space.

  • Resolution set to wontfix
  • Status changed from new to closed

I see your rationale for this, and agree somewhat, but the current layout is intentional and chosen for its similarity to the OS X client.

So... is TR/GTK meant to copy the mac interface now? I don't really know if this design decision makes sense on mac, perhaps it does, but doing the same for gtk, I don't know... do you expect many mac users to also use the GTK version and don't want to "confuse" them?
